“ If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
2 things came to mind while mediating on this verse.
First and foremost there is a condition. IF my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. We could also think of this verse in the opposite light. If God’s people don’t humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from there wicked ways then God won’t forgive our sin and heal our land. The choice is ours and while this verse is absolutely a promise it comes with a price on a personal level.
The second thing that came to mind is many times in the bible the word “land” is a type and shadow of our own individual souls. God isn’t only be talking about a people at large in this verse, but speaking to us as personal individuals. If we turn from our wicked ways and seek Him with ALL our heart He will heal our souls.
Let’s bring things down to ourselves and forget what the world at large is doing. We see the consequences of sin spreading like wildfire in our nations. The real question is are we as God’s people sitting back forgetting to bring everything into the light of Gods word? We can point our fingers at world leaders. We can point our fingers at a harlot church. We can point our fingers at all those consciously serving the enemy. Yet ought to take a good long look in the mirror and point that finger at ourselves. Bringing ourselves into constant judgement.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.”
