Tim Shey – War in the Heavenlies

A few days before the 17th of May, the Lord showed me the number 17.  It bore witness with my spirit that it meant the 17th of May.

This is what happened on the 17th of May:

I was walking east out of Missoula, Montana on I-90 when this truck driver picked me up.  His name was Rusla and he was originally from Belarus (near Russia and the Ukraine).  He was a Christian who lived in Mount Vernon, Washington.  During that trip, the Presence of God became very powerful.  Rusla dropped me off in Belgrade where I camped out that night.

The next day (May 18th) I hitchhiked to Jackson, Wyoming where I camped out for one night.  The next day (May 19th) I hitchhiked to West Yellowstone, Montana and camped out in the woods just north of town.  That night I was attacked probably by several demons in my sleep.  Before I went to sleep, there was this sense of foreboding or sense of dread.  Later this evil presence came upon me and I became paralyzed and then the demons attacked me.  It may have lasted fifteen minutes to half an hour.

Why did the demons attack me that night?  Probably because the Presence of God was so strong on the 17th of May.  I believe some demonic bondage was broken inside me on the 17th and that is why Satan was so furious.

I hitchhiked out of West Yellowstone the next morning (May 20th).  A Christian friend picked me up outside of Belgrade and let me stay at his place in Three Forks for one night.  I was using his laptop that evening and noticed that the number of page views on my High Plains Drifter blog (Google) was down drastically.  The previous several months, I averaged between 250 and 400 page views per day on my High Plains Drifter blog.  After May 20th, my average page views has been around 40 to 70 per day.

Something serious happened in the heavenly realm in the past several days for Satan to attack me like that.  Praise the Lord!  That’s good news.  If Satan attacks you, that means you are destroying some aspect of his kingdom.

The next day (May 21st) I hitchhiked from Three Forks to Helena, Montana.  Outside of Helena, this truck driver picked me up.  He was originally from Russia; his name was Alex and he was from Mount Vernon, Washington.  He later told me that he knew Rusla, the other truck driver, very well.  We had a good laugh.  It’s a small world.  To me, this was confirmation that something definitely happened on the 17th of May:  two truck drivers picked me up from Mount Vernon, Washington; they knew each other; they were both Christians (went to different churches); they both spoke Russian and English; Rusla picked me up just outside of Missoula, Alex dropped me off in Missoula.  In the mouth of two or three witnesses, let every word be established.

Alex dropped me off on the east side of Missoula.  I hitchhiked to Lolo and camped out there that night. Before I went to sleep, I went through a fascinating deliverance from a demon.  It was like the demon was in a death throe when it manifested (it felt like I was dying); finally the demon came out.  It lasted for about an hour.  Praise the Lord!  I am still being delivered from demons; curses are being broken.

When I think back on the power of the Presence of God in Rusla’s tractor cab on the 17th of May, I think of these scriptures:

Isaiah 10: 27:  “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

I Corinthians 4: 20:  “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”

Matthew 17: 21:  “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

Revelation 2: 24:  “But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.”

Thoughts On That Judgment Day – Leonard Ravenhill

Oh God, stamp eternity on my eyeballs! But you know if God should stamp eternity or even judgment on our eyeballs or if you’d like on the fleshy table of our hearts. I am quite convinced we’d be  a very very different tribe of people, God’s people, in the world today.

We live too much in time, we are too earth bound. We see as others men see. We think as other men thinks. We invest our time as the world invests it. We invest our money. We are supposed to be a different breed of people. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ needs a new revelation of the majesty of God. We’re all going to stand one day… can you imagine it?.. At the judgment seat of Christ to give an account for the deeds done in the body.

This is what – this is the King of kings and He’s the Judge of judges and it’s the Tribunal of tribunals and there’s no court of appeal after it. The verdict is final.

Listen, when you see Jesus, you’re not going to go up and say “Hey buddy, I’m glad You died for me.” When you see Jesus you will be almost paralyzed with fear unless you have a glorified body and a glorified mind.

You say, “Well Mr. Ravenhill, I won’t be in serious trouble because you know, I don’t have a good memory.” Well, I’ll tell you what, you’ll have one that day. In Malachi, it says that God has a book of remembrance. And I think it would do you good before you go to bed every night this week to ask God, “What did you put in Your book today for my life?”

Did you get up this morning and thank God you are pure, huh? Did you thank Him that the devilish fever you use to have for sniffing cocaine or drugs of something that He broke the shackles of it? Are you really glad you’re not a prostitute now, you’re going to be a part of the Bride of the Lamb? Are you glad He had remove from your heart covetousness and bad temper and all those creepy horrible things that use to master you?

The most shattering thought I’d ever had is my personal accountability to God one day. We are not going to be judged just because of what we’ve done, we’re going to be judged for why we did it! Not for the action, for the motive. What motivated your giving? Why? What’s the motive behind it? He doesn’t just take your sins, he takes your self, He takes the government of your life. And it is not only true we live in a world of bankrupt politics, we live in a world, and this is the tragic of all, of a bankrupt church.

When in God’s Name is the church going to open her heart again and open her mind again and see again? Can God forgive every sin I’ve ever committed? I said, He sure can. That is if you repent of your sin and you plead for the Blood of Christ and you ask for mercy. That tender Christ who went about doing good and He kissed little babies and blessed people… Now, ahh… there is nothing more beautiful than a little lamb. There is nothing more terrible than the wrath of the Lamb.

God should bring every work into judgment with every secret thing. The dead, small, and great are going to stand before God in that awesome day. But say, Am I just a showman? What’s my secret life like? ‘Cause God has not merely given us Jesus Christ, He has given us all things. And because there isn’t enough joy in the house of God, we need entertainment. Because entertainment is the devil’s substitute for joy.

I think before we point the finger at the world, we better turn to the church and say: “Look we’d better all get sackcloth and ashes and humble ourselves and say Almighty God.”

When I see the church in the New Testament, the didn’t have stately buildings, they didn’t have paid evangelists. They didn’t have a  lot of money. They didn’t have organization. They couldn’t get on TV and beg. But I’ll tell you what they did – they turned the world upside down!! And I’m embarrassed to be a part of the church of Jesus today because I believe it’s an embarrassment to a Holy God.

Most of our joy is clapping our hands and having a good time and then afterward, we’re talking all the dribble of the world.

Oh to be lost in Him! To be consumed in Him!

You get so near to the heart of God, that you share His grief over a world and over a backslidden church that we have today. Because if you’re going to get mature in God, all the dwarfs around you will criticize and sneer at you and say, “You’re trying to be holier than the rest of us, huh?”

You’ll discover this – the men who have been most heroic for God have been the men with the greatest devotional life. The only thing that will tie me in victory continually through the Blood of Christ is my personal devotions to Him, the Son of God. My adoration that I give Him my tribute everyday. It’s more than my service, it is more than giving my money. That I love Him and I adore Him and I magnify Him and I take Him as it were by the feet.

You know why the world is poor and sick outside? Because we really don’t know how to pray, that’s why.

I’ve said it many times, so I say it again this morning – that no man is greater than his prayer life. Let me live with a man awhile and share his prayer life and i’ll tell you how tall I think he is or how majestic I think he is in God.

It’s going to be an awesome day. You see there is no possible… no possibility of any rehearsal. And what, there’s no possibility of any repetition. Because again this is the final judgment.

I think again of a statement Dr. Tozer made to me once. He said, “Len you know what?” He said, “We’ll hardly get our feet out of time into eternity and gaze on eternity that we bow our heads in shame and humiliation and say: “My God, look at all the richest there were in Jesus Christ and I come to the judgment seat almost a pauper.”

Master forgive, and inspire us anew. Banish our worldliness, help us to ever live with eternity’s values in view.

Said that great man who birthed that revival – “God stamp eternity on my eyeballs.”

You know, if we can’t live as a different breed of people on this earth, we have no right to live here. And if we get back to a people who are really baptized with obedience, submissive to the total will of God. Not concerned about human opinion, not asking for more to spend prodigally on ourselves but say, “Oh God, I want this life of mine adjusted so when I stand in Your awesome presence.” As James says – we shall not be ashamed of His appearing.

Lukewarm Church

Revelation 3:14-22 “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”

What a strong rebuke from the Lord to the Laodicean Church.

Doing a study of Laodicea we find much deeper meaning of what this letter truly meant and also how it applies to us today.

  • No supply of water directly from city, they piped it in from a spring miles away. By the time it got to town it was full of minerals, sulfur, and as the Lord put it lukewarm. It was disgusting.
  • Known for selling a black wool which prospered the city. There was no physical lack.
  • Known for healing. There were many physicians known for their healing remedies here, especially the eye and ear salve.

The Lord rebukes everything the Laodiceans held dear to their hearts. Everything they identified with and took pride in was like dung in the sight of Christ. “Thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” How this applies to 7th and final Laodicean church age we now live in. The church has more money than it ever has. The church has more natural resources than ever to preach the gospel. The church seems to be very large and prosperous on the outside. So many with large congregations and hundreds of people attending, yet with an attitude we have need of nothing. Unfortunately we are so miserable and completely broke spiritually. Wood, hay and stubble (1 Corinthians 3:12-13).

The Spirit of God has completely left the majority of congregations due to the lukewarm condition and we carry on as if we have no need of repentance/change. Will we hear the Lord’s loving voice and correction? If we do there’s a wonderful promise for us at the end of the letter, “To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”

Wall of Fire

The Lord allows some Christians to be killed and some Christians to be protected. Here is a powerful story of the Lord protecting some Christians in Africa:

This is from What Saith the Scripture?:

The current fighting in Central Africa is a regional war which now involves eight African countries. Last summer it spilled over into Congo where American Baptist Missionaries have remained. The genocide and senseless killings in some areas have occurred so often that many in the Western world have become immune to the tragedy in this part of Africa. But God’s people have been praying and He responds in sometimes miraculous ways. The following story did not make the evening news.

Tutsi soldiers had broken down the door of a young pastor’s house and stood poised to slaughter by machine gun fire, him and his entire family right where they sat. Their intent was to massacre the civilians in this Hutu village. “Wait! the young man implored, would you not allow my family and I a moment to pray before we die?” I can almost picture the sneers on the face of these soldiers as they watched this family, an African couple and their young children soberly kneel, arm in arm, in a circle on the floor and pray to God for mercy. The remarkable thing is that the expected shots never came. After praying, the family slowly stood up and saw that the soldiers were gone, not only out of their house but away from their village as well. It was not until several months later they found out just what had happened.

At a church meeting in another town where Christians from both sides had gathered to pray, this young pastor told his story and the seemingly miraculous way in which the soldiers “just disappeared from his house and village.”

“I think I can explain,” came a quiet voice from the back of the room… spoken by one of the Tutsi soldiers who had been there that fateful day. “You see,” said the soldier, “I was there when we broke into your house. I was one who had your children lined up in my rifle site as you kneeled and prayed… when suddenly a wall of fire, fierce and ferocious, jumped up and surrounded the lot of you. We couldn’t even see beyond the flames. Due to the intense heat and fire, we knew the house would burn down so we fled. When we went outside and saw your home consumed by fire and yet not destroyed, we fled the village as well. Later I realized that this was not the type of fire we are familiar with but a fire sent by God. If this is how your God responds, I want to know Him too! I am tired of the fighting and the killing… this is why I came tonight.”

Miracles abound in war torn Central Africa. Prayer is, and will always be, the only response to the tragedies and crises in our lives.
A mighty fortress is our God…

“For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a Wall Of Fire round about, and will be the Glory in the midst of her” (Zechariah 2:5).

To the Persecuted Church

Revelation 2:8-11 “And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.”

Timothy and Maura

“Tell him, Timothy, please!” Maura pleaded with her husband. “Tell the governor where the scriptures are hidden and be free! I cannot bear to watch any more of this.” Timothy and Maura, residents of the Roman providence of Mauritania, had been married only a few short weeks before their arrest.

Timothy had refused the governor’s demand, and Maura had watched in horror as Roman soldiers burned out his eyes with hot irons. Now Timothy was hanging upside down, with a weight hanging around his neck. As Timothy waited for his gag to be removed, the fear that he had felt at his arrest was replaced with divine calm.

But then, instead of renouncing his faith and disclosing the location of his church’s copies of the scriptures as the soldiers expected, Timothy scolded his young wife. “Do not let your love for me come before your love for Christ,” he urged her. Seeing her husband’s courage, Maura’s own resolve was strengthened. Enraged by Timothy’s refusal and Maura’s newfound courage, Governor Arrianus sentenced them to the harshest tortures of the Roman world. Yet, they refused to break and deny Christ. Eventually, they were crucified, side by side.
