Year of Jubilee

Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

In Luke 4:18-19 the Lord is spiritually proclaiming a year of Jubilee. Every 50 years Israelites were commanded to release their fellowmen from debts, slavery and return property to those who owned it. Jesus Christ is the spiritual Jubilee and sets us free from all spiritual debt. This trumpet was to be sounded on Day of Atonement for this special year, and it could be said this trumpet is being sounded across the land spiritually today. There will be a great Jubilee before the spiritual fulfillment of Feast of Tabernacles.

God leaves gold for us in this verse. Not only is He explaining the spiritual meaning of Jubilee to us, but He is also showing why we have anointing. The Spirit of the Lord is upon us for the sake of others and not ourselves. The anointing is upon us to serve.

  • Preach gospel to poor
  • Heal brokenhearted
  • Proclaim liberty to captives
  • Recovery of sight to the blind
  • Set at liberty those who are oppressed
  • Proclaim acceptable year of Lord (Jubilee)

Has God anointed you dear brother or sister? Do you feel His fiery presence flowing through you? It is for one reason alone. For the sake of the captives who need freedom. Blow the trumpet in Zion and proclaim the spiritual year of Jubilee in these last days.

Have you lost God’s Holy presence? You may wonder why it seems He is no longer in the midst. To find Him you may have to join Him as He looks for His lost sheep. Maybe its time to put your eyes on the lost once again and the anointing will return.
